I’m preparing to get started on my new album, and to do that I will need some funds. Making music—or art for that matter—is not a cheap endeavor and—especially in the early stages—it will not make you any money. But it will demand a considerable investment.
Some people might not see asking for donations as being a worthy thing to do. It is indeed a bit taboo in today’s world, but if we look back through history, most artists have had patrons—some more or less wealthy than others. Michelangelo, Beethoven and so many other were supported by other people’s contributions.
So, if you’re still interested, and I haven’t lost you already, please read on and allow me to tell you what my plan for the future album is, and what I will need these funds for.
I plan to start working on the next album in September ’19, and hopefully launch it by March of 2020. Right now I have a lot of ideas floating around regarding the theme of the piece, but it all revolves around what people in the West call ‘The Sacred Feminine’. It will also be a sort of continuation of my video from 2017 for Part VI of Arhythmology.
The hope is that the entire album will be in video form as well—a short film underscored by my music. But of course, that depends on the budget that I will have, since filming is so much more expensive than just writing music.
My goal is to raise 5500 EUR until September ’19.
And for the sake of transparency, let me tell you what that money will be used for:
- upgrading some of my music software by buying: the latest version of Cubase Pro, sample libraries from Spitfire Audio, upgrades for my plugins from Native Instruments and Waves Audio
- upgrading some of my hardware by buying extra hard disk space and extra RAM memory
- paying for a mixing engineer to audition my album and make adjustments to the finished product
- paying for online audio mastering with a professional studio like Abbey Roads Studios
- paying for session musicians who will record some parts for my album
- and last, but not least, the less glamorous—but equally important—paying the bills and necessities
If you’re still with me by the end, and you’ve decided you want to help me, let me first thank you for supporting me, and for supporting art! Your contribution will not go to waste, and it will help create something beautiful, which will touch the heart of others.
And of course, any amount counts, even if it’s just 10 EUR or even less. There are a number of us who will chip in, so every little bit will make a difference.
